The Candles
Candles remind us that Christ is the “Light of the world.” [John 8:11]
The candles behind the altar are lit to symbolize the illumination of the word of God we hear through scripture, preaching, and prayer, while the candles on the altar are lit whenever there will be Holy Eucharist symbolizing the real presence of Jesus Christ.
