Welcome to Emmanuel!

David_smith_1_edited_1a

Dear Friend,

Welcome to Emmanuel Church, Chatham. Like many Episcopal churches in Virginia, we have been around quite a while (est. 1844). But don’t let our age fool you!

As you can see through our website, the creativity and vitality of our church family is boundless. We are delighted to have you here and hope you enjoy your tour.

The Emmanuel family is proud of our Anglican heritage. We find great comfort and inspiration in our liturgical worship, led by the Book of Common Prayer, Eucharistic celebration and faithful preaching.

We care deeply for the well being of our members and pray for one another constantly. Our attention and concern are also shared with the Chatham community and the world. And we are seeking new and innovative ways to present Christ’s love to all God’s people.

As part of the Diocese of Southern Virginia, we actively participate in the ongoing life of the larger church and support our common work personally, financially and spiritually.

If you are looking for a church family that loves God, embraces vital liturgical worship and is following the way of Christ in our time, then come on in and become part of the Emmanuel family.

Peace and joy,
David Smith, Vicar
