A Night at the Movies with the Rainier Trio
So much of movie music has been based on the classical tradition. Enjoy an evening of movie music featuring selections from Dr. Zhivago, Fiddler on the Roof, Schindler's List, Exodus, The Mission, The Legend of 1900 and much more. A treat for the entire family!

A Concert of Song: Broadway to Opera
Director of Opera Roanoke Scott Williamson, and acclaimed soprano Amy Cofield Williamson will sing duets from popular musicals and operas accompanied by Judith Clark, piano and Kevin and Bryan Matheson on strings. Who doesn’t enjoy an entertaining selection of songs about love, fame, honor and glory?

Mozart and Brahms Quintets for Clarinet and Strings
Principal clarinetist of the Pittsburgh Philharmonic Alex Jones and members of the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra join forces to perform two masterworks of the chamber music repertoire. In these landmark works, Mozart and Brahms skillfully weave the clarinet’s voice in and out of the texture provided by the strings to achieve beauty, grace and enchanting landscapes.

Trios for Guitar and Strings
Dr. Stanley Alexandrowicz joins the Classic Strings Duo for some of the most intimate and virtuoso works of the repertoire. Beethoven’s Duet for musical clock and the Sonata for Violin and Guitar by the great virtuoso Nicolo Paganini are contrasted by works from France, Spain and South American composers Astor Piazzolla and Heitor Villa-Lobos. The program has something for everyone and is sure to delight!

Rainier Trio and Friends: Bach to Baroque with Vivaldi’s Four Seasons
The most famous and recorded piece of classical music, Antonio Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons” is loved by all, and to hear it performed live by a small orchestra is a special treat. The program includes other favorites for strings: Brandenburg Concerto No. 6 by J. S. Bach and Telemann’s Concerto for Viola and Orchestra. The orchestra includes violins, violas, cellos and keyboard, featuring Kevin and Bryan Matheson, Brenda Wittwer and Lisa Liske-Doorandish.
