Feast of Jerome

The Collect -

O Lord, O God of truth, your Word is a lantern to our feet and a light upon our path: We give you thanks for your servant Jerome, and those who, following in his steps, have labored to render the Holy Scriptures in the language of the people; and we pray that your Holy Spirit will overshadow us as we read the written Word, and that Christ, the living Word, will transform us according to your righteous will; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Chatham Concert Series Opening Night: "Brahms and Franck" - September 30 at 7 p.m.

Friday is opening night for the Chatham Concert Series' ninth season at Emmanuel Episcopal Church! 

7:00pm, Friday, September 30,

Internationally recognized Virginia pianist Harold Brown will come to perform with Kevin and Bryan Matheson in Brahms’ masterful "Horn Trio” Op. 40 and Cesar Franck's famous Violin Sonata. The concert will also feature young pianist Staley Lyle from Chatham and refreshments afterwards provided by Chatham First.

The Collect -

We give you thanks and praise, O God of compassion, for the heroic witness of Constance and her companions, who, in a time of plague and pestilence, were steadfast in their care for the sick and dying, and loved not their own lives, even unto death: Inspire in us a like love and commitment to those in need, following the example of our Savior Jesus Christ; who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, now and for ever.
