The Chatham Concert Series is pleased kick off its 10th season with the Rainier Trio’s new program “Vivaldi and Piazzolla: The Four Seasons” on Friday, October 5, 2018, at 7 p.m. at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 66 N. Main St. Chatham
Guest violinist Elizabeth Matheson will join the Rainier Trio, comprised of Kevin and Bryan Matheson, violin and viola and Brenda Wittwer on piano.
The timeless music of Antonio Vivaldi's “The Four Seasons” will be paired with passionate tangos “The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires” by Argentinian composer Astor Piazzolla. You will also hear readings of the poems that inspired Vivaldi to write the first “programmatic music,” painting a picture with sound by imitating bird calls, thunder, insects and frigid winds.
After the concert, mingle with fellow concert fans and the musicians while enjoying the delightful reception provided by Chatham First. These receptions have become a tradition not to be missed in Chatham!
